Camp 1, On the Way to the Top

Robert has reached Camp 1. He had no trouble on this leg of the journey.

The weather is an important variable. He reports that the wind is very strong and gusty. Also, there is a possibility of a monsoon on the 26th. Base Camp got 6 feet of snow the last time a monsoon hit!

Robert's plan is to summit, possibly on the 24th, and return to base camp as quickly as he can. There are six in the group that are trying to arrange for a helicopter to pick them up at base camp. This would save a 3 day hike back down the mountain.
